Bishop John Schol has appointed Rev. David T. Ryan as the next pastor of Mount Zion Akron, effective July 1, 2024. Pastor Ryan also serves Leola United Methodist Church.


David Ryan is an ordained elder of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference, having been first ordained a Deacon in 1985 and an Elder in 1987. His mission is to help others Delight in the love of God. He is a child of God, a believer, and a friend of Jesus. He takes great joy in being creative. David graduated from Asbury College with a degree in Christian Education and Drama and Wesley Seminary with an M.Div. He is married to Jeanette Ryan, and together, they have two sons and a Daughter-in-law. Jonathan, married to Erin, lives in Harrisburg, and Zachary lives in Chestertown Maryland. David is a musician and loves leading a gospel Ukulele group, 4Strings4Him, and has recently joined the acting company, The Promise Players. He is dedicated to the Word of God and understands it is a high privilege to engage folks with the scriptures through preaching and with the Spirit of God through worship leadership. He has served congregations in Bucks County and Lancaster County, as well as in Kent County MD. In 2022, he returned to Pastor Leola UMC, where he had first served 20 years ago. He is delighted to be called now to add Mount Zion, Akron to his ministry and looks forward to all that God has in store! This is the day the Lord has made – let us rejoice and be glad in it!
